Scalability Features. Full Investment Protection
Scalable Dimetra IP is fully scalable in size and features. This gives users flexibility in the way they deploy the solution. For example, users could choose to go with one site and basic voice features today, or add more sites and/or other services such as Short Data Service (SDS), packet data, telephony interconnection or even redundancy as and when required. Users could also expand their system from a single site to nationwide with full reuse of all hardware. This scalability in size and feature allows users to “pay as you grow” and provides full investment protection.
One-Rack Switch Solution. Low Cost of Ownership
Scalable Dimetra IP starts from a one-rack switch solution. This provides savings in floor space, efficiency in power consumption as well as operations and maintenance. With its Plug and Play capabilities, Scalable Dimetra IP is easy to set up and operate. The equipment comes pre-configured and is operational almost immediately upon installation on location. In addition to its quick setup time, it can provide a complete backup of all system components on the hard disk of the Network Management PC or on a removable media for off-site storage. A service personnel could also access the system via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection anywhere with an Internet connection. The ease of maintenance reduces cost to customers on training and maintenance.

Digital Trunked Radio with Dimetra IP Compact
DimetraTM is the name for Motorola’s TETRA radio system for voice and data according the ETSI standard. Dimetra IP Compact is a digital TETRA trunking radio system with a maximum utilization of available channel resources.
Trunking allows a large number of potential users to have sufficient access to a limited number of resources. In a conventional radio system, users are assigned specific base stations to operate on. Some channels may be busy while other channels are idle. The trunking concept allows channels or other resources to be made available to users as they are needed. Instead of channels being dedicated to specific users who may or may not use the channels, trunking allows all the channels to be pooled together. As a traffic channel is needed, system grants an available traffic channel from its pool of traffic channels. Trunking reduces the number of busies and improves the efficiency of the system resources.
The usage of a control channel for the call set up allows advanced access procedures depending on the priority of users and services.
Contrary to analogue operating radio systems the Dimetra IP Compact system enables apart from group calls also full-duplex individual calls, full-duplex telephone calls, an efficient data communication as well as a better voice quality.
